I was recently brought in to help Boart Longyear redesign their web store under a quick deadline. The team was facing a couple of design hurdles that my previous experience as a recording studio owner made me uniquely qualified to tackle.
The Problem
Boart Longyear’s drilling customers often order dozens - or even hundreds - of different SKUs at a time. Most customers already know the SKUs they need, so while the website includes your typical e-commerce search and add-to-cart functions, a way for customers to just copy and paste or upload their orders would be ideal. My time maintaining studio equipment has led me to similar B2B commerce sites with similar needs, so I had an understanding of what they were after.
My solution? An upload CSV/copy & paste function.
Simplify.
Our next challenge was to simplify the site’s robust Drilling Services page. As a leading drilling services provider, Boart Longyear offers a wide array of highly specialized drilling methods.
I was really grateful for the opportunity to work with such a well-established and enduring company like Boart Longyear!
